Dear Families,
If you walked through our 4th grade space this
week you would have seen painting, printing & pasting on trifolds, and hot
glue guns, hammers & ipads employed to bring ideas into reality. You
would have heard 4th grade peers, high school helpers, and OES faculty from
other departments collaborating with and advising 4th graders. You would also have noticed frustration and
false starts mixed with the satisfaction of jobs well done. These are busy
times in 4th grade as students devise ways to share their learning from
research projects. Especially striking is the manner in which 4th graders are
helping each other, acting as co-teachers to encourage, advise and provide
feedback.
Next week students will continue to work on their
projects and prepare short collaborative pieces to launch the March 22 event. Our
4th grade teaching team is very proud of the independence and perseverance our
students show as they seek to share their learning. Please talk over the
plans of your children for their “Response to Research.” While our
hope is that this work is done primarily at school, we appreciate your support at
home in gathering materials and providing help.
Please read on for important details to put on
your family calendar for the weeks ahead:
- Please go over the homework sheet coming
home on Monday with your child. It includes details on International
Fair projects and presentations.
- We hope you will attend International Fair on
March 22 (a late start Thursday) at 9:15 am. The children will present
an ‘Opening Ceremony’ in the Performance Commons (bottom floor of the new
LS building), we will walk over to the gym to view projects and displays
until 10:50, when the kids head to recess.
Thank you,
The Fourth Grade Team
